MAKERS MINUTES: PHAEDRA CLOTHING
Deva O’Neill is a local designer/maker and natural dye specialist based in Penryn, Cornwall. Trading as Phaedra Clothing, she creates beautiful, effortless womenswear that explores the relationship between cloth and the body.
Phaedra Clothing is elegant yet can be worn comfortably. Celebrating the nuances of slow, hand made design, the natural dyed pieces are unique with the patterns and patina of the dye bath. In linens and cottons, the fabric softens and evolves to the wearer’s movements, embracing the narrative of a well loved garment.
Every Phaedra design is drafted, cut and sewn in her studio/shop The Old Bank Studios, an idyllic maker space she shares with Hannah Batstone Jewellery. We popped into their space to grab a few minutes of Deva’s time as she worked on her growing order list...

WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT YOURSELF THROUGH YOUR WORK?
Ohhh interesting. Hmm I've learnt patience, I've learnt that I can be pretty industrious. I've learnt my limits I think. I used to think I didn't have any energy but now I've realised that I can actually get a lot done in a day. And probably just being more confident and believing in my vision over the last couple of years.
